ABOUT ME

People Often Ask...

  • What are the most important elements to consider when beginning estate planning?
Embarking on estate planning is a critical step towards ensuring your legacy is honored exactly as you envision. It's essential to recognize that if you don't proactively create a personalized estate plan, the government already has a default scheme in place. Unfortunately, this impersonal plan rarely aligns with the unique wishes and intricacies of your life's tapestry. The reality is that your family, your assets, and your dreams are distinctive, and they deserve a tailored approach that only a custom estate plan can provide. Additionally, estate planning is far from a one-size-fits-all affair. It’s a nuanced process that involves navigating complex legal frameworks and tax regulations, which are often as intricate as they are pivotal. Attempting to tackle this alone, with a do-it-yourself mentality, might seem cost-effective at first glance but can lead to oversights and missteps with far-reaching consequences. Collaborating with a seasoned estate planning professional offers you the expertise and guidance to create a robust plan. Such a partnership ensures that your estate plan is not just a document, but a comprehensive strategy that protects your assets, complies with legal requirements, and achieves your long-term objectives for yourself and your loved ones.
  • What common misconceptions do people have about estate planning that you'd like to address?
One major misconception is that a Will avoids Probate - the government's process that involves distributing a deceased person's assets. To the contrary, in order for a Will to be validated - determined to have been the most recent legally executed version - it must be submitted to the Probate Court and subjected to a 6-month challenge period. The entire Probate process often takes a year or more to conclude. Another major misconceptions involves Trusts - contrary to popular belief Trusts are not just for the very wealthy, and they are intended to do more than just hold one's assets.

What I Do For Fun...

  • On the weekends, you can often find me navigating the waters on my boat, where I relish the tranquility.
When I'm not out on the water, I dedicate my time to hands-on projects around the house. Additionally, I have a passion for bringing vintage vehicles back to life. Restoring these classics is a labor of love that combines history, mechanics, and craftsmanship.

We had such a pleasant experience. This isn't an easy subject to work through but everyone we dealt with was personable and made it much easier.

The Bystry Family

We felt like the entire process was very organized and we felt it was easy to schedule. We were looking for professional advice and guidance and that is what we received!
