ABOUT ME

People Often Ask...

  • Why did you want to become an attorney?
It's cliche but I wanted to help people. I grew up watching Criminal Minds and Law and Order with my Mom-mom and it inspired me to become an attorney. The legal system can be intimidating and being a first generation college graduate and attorney, it's important to me that I am able to help people navigate that system. Many people try to avoid the legal system as much as possible because they think it will be too expensive or too arduous of a process. In reality, everyone deserves to have their voice heard and to take advantage of the protections offered to them under the law. A large part of my motivation to become an attorney was to make legal services more accessible, whether its by being a knowledgeable, approachable resource or by being an advocate for those who may not know where to start.
  • What's your thoughts in whether people should create their own estate plan?
I always tell people that while they can technically create their own estate plan, I always recommend speaking with an estate planning attorney first. Everyone has their own individual reason for creating an estate plan, and while an online form may seem like an easy solution, estate planning is not one size fits all. Whether you are seeking to make things easier on your loved ones, protect what you have built, or to avoid probate, an attorney can offer advice and help formulate a plan according to your specific wants and needs. There are so many considerations that go into a comprehensive and cohesive estate plan that go beyond simply who gets what. Speaking with an attorney can ensure that you plan for every scenario. An estate planning attorney can help you create a legally binding plan that considers future disabilities, nursing home care, lawsuits, and even probate. While there are online resources to create your own plan, doing so without consulting an attorney can leave your estate vulnerable and may not offer the full protection available to you under the law. Sometimes you don't know what options are available to you until you ask, an estate planning attorney can open your eyes to all the protections you can take advantage of.
